What are Home Advance Workshops?

The Home Advance Workshop is recommended for all first-time homebuyers and those who would like to learn more about the home buying process, requirements, risks and remedies. It takes you through the home buying process including:

• “How do I know what I can afford”

• Finding the home that’s right for you

• Credit

• Choosing a lender and a mortgage

• Qualifying

• Costs

• Closing

• Life in the community

• How to protect this asset from loss of value

• What to do when your home is at risk due to an unavoidable hardship.

Attendance at both Home Advance I and Home Advance II completes the program and entitles you to a Certificate of Completion, which will enable you to participate in many first time homebuyer and down payment assistance programs.

When is this Workshop offered?

On Monday evenings, Home Advance I and Home Advance II are offered on 2 successive evenings, except on holidays. Please call for specific dates and register at least one month prior to your closing date to assure availability and completion prior to closing date.
